Disneyland's Real 50th Anniversary

Friday July 15, 2005
"To all who come to this happy place, welcome," Walt Disney said at the official dedication of Disneyland on July 17, 1955. While the Disney theme parks are in the middle of an 18-month Happiest Celebration on Earth that kicked off in May, the actual 50th anniversary date will be this Sunday. The parks already staged ceremonies, dedications, ride debuts, and other anniversary hoopla back in the spring, but Disneyland will mark the occasion on Sunday with a special appearance by Diane Disney Miller, Walt's daughter, and the grand openings of a completely overhauled Space Mountain as well as the new Turtle Talk with Crush, an interactive, real-time animation attraction (that has been wowing audiences at Florida's Epcot) at Disney's California Adventure. There's no telling how many people may show up for Disneyland's July 17 celebration. Disney will close the gates at around 65,000 guests. My advice to those who plan to join the party: Get there early. It's a small park, after all.

My family and I take a trip to Disneyland twice, maybe three times a year. I thought I knew everything about Disneyland, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found disneylandtips.com. I learned which resorts had special options for adults, such as wine tasting and special after-hours parties. As we’re planning our next trip–sometime this summer–I plan on hitting the updated rides and we will definitely be using disneylandtips.com to find some new attractions to check out.
