Dollywood Drops the Axe on New Ride
Friday July 8, 2005
Always among the first out of the gate with new attraction announcements, Dollywood says that it will be adding Timber Tower to its ride list next season. According to the trade publication, "Amusement Business," the $6.5-million dollar ride will be the first of its kind in North America and one of only a handful in the world. Passengers will board a ride vehicle that will spiral as it climbs a 65-foot tower that will also spiral. When it reaches the top, the tower will topple from side to side and narrowly avert jets of water from below. I have a video of the unique ride from its German manufacturer. Timber Tower will be located in the Tennessee park's Thunderhead Gap area.
