Reno Casino to Gamble on Indoor Water Park
Friday May 13, 2005
The self-proclaimed "Biggest Little City in the World" will be home to the biggest indoor water park in the nation. According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, a group of investors is buying Nevada's Reno Hilton casino-hotel from Caesers Entertainment and plans to add a 150,000-square foot indoor water park and a second 250,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor water park. The property, which will be known as the Grand Sierra Resort, will also add 1,000 condo-hotel rooms to its existing 2,000 hotel rooms. The water park, which may open in 2007, will include a wave pool, a simulated wave-making surfing attraction, and a lazy river. Currently, the largest indoor water park in the U.S., which is a matter of some contention, is The Wilderness Waterpark Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
