Disney's "World" Just Got a Whole Lot Bigger
Monday February 21, 2005
It may, in fact, be a small world after all, and the folks at Disney are ready to incorporate it into a vacation package. In an odd bit of news, the House of Mouse just announced that it is exploring a small-group travel service it is calling Adventures by Disney. Having successfully lured millions of people to its theme parks, Disney now plans to take its storytelling expertise out into the world. A pilot program will kick off this summer with a series of weeklong trips to Hawaii and Wyoming. Declaring that the family-geared trips will include "story-based itineraries" and Disney magic, the Escape to Paradise groups will visit Oahu, Hawaii, and Kauai, while the Quest for the West package will explore Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. Disney is marketing the initial trips at special introductory rates to its cruise line passengers, Disney Vacation Club members, and other fans of all things Mickey.
