Walt Disney World Prices Go Up...and Down

Thursday December 2, 2004
It's going to cost a whopping $5 more to ride Dumbo starting January 2, as Walt Disney World announced today that its one-day, one-park ticket price will rise from $54.75 to $59.75, a mere two bits short of $60. Talk about fuel surcharges to board the flying elephant! However, the price increase is part of an overhauled ticketing program, called "Magic Your Way," which will offer substantial savings for multi-day, multi-park tickets and a great deal more flexibility than presently available. A five-day Premium Ticket, for example, which includes park hopping among the four theme parks for five days plus three visits to any combination of Walt Disney World's two water parks, DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island, or Disney's Wide World of Sports, will cost $273. That's $9 less than the current price and includes an extra day at the water parks to boot. A seven-day Premium Ticket will cost $279, a mere $6 more than the five-day option. Walt Disney World will also be offering 2-day and 3-day ticket packages, options that generally haven't been available for the past few years. For complete details and money-saving tips, check out my "Magic Your Way" pages. Beginning January 2, Disney will be offering its "Magic Your Way" tickets online using a shopping-cart process. It will also offer new trip-planning enhancements and features on its Web site. You can check out a Beta version of the resort's My Disney Vacation trip-planning tool.
