Let's Give Thanks--to Theme Parks and Attraction Designers
Tuesday November 23, 2004
Here in the States, we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving in a couple of days, which typically means overeating to the point of nausea, yelling at television screens while watching football, and yelling at our family members over things like politics (don't get me started!) and football. Somewhere in there, we're supposed to take heed of the things for which we are thankful. Among the items on my Thanksgiving list: theme park attractions, both classic and soon-to-be-classics, and the parks and designers that make them possible. Attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Star Trek: The Experience, Mission: SPACE, and Revenge of the Mummy. The sheer joy these rides bring and the creativity, audacity, and whimsy that went into creating them are things that truly make me thankful. And since you're here at the About Theme Parks site, I suspect you're thankful as well. Let's take a moment to celebrate these landmark achievements and tip our hats to the wonderful folks behind the attractions. Then, let's grab another slice of pie...and ask Aunt Martha for some antacid tablets.
