Danger, Will Robinson! Robocoaster Coming to California--See the Video

Friday November 19, 2004
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) convention and trade show, the annual powwow of theme park ride vendors and operators, is in full swing in Orlando this week, and the folks that manufacture the Robocoaster are drawing lots of attention with an exhibit showcasing their unique ride. The attraction uses roller-coaster-style seats attached to robotic arms that can move riders with remarkable fluidity through a series of programmable maneuvers. To see Robocoaster in action, check out this video. The ride is currently wowing guests at Legoland parks in Germany and Denmark. According to USA Today, the site of the first U.S. installation of a Robocoaster will be at Legoland California. The manufacturer is also developing a version of the ride that marries the concept of the Robocoaster robotic arm to a roller coaster track.
