Cypress Gardens Blooms Anew this Friday

When it closed in 2003, Florida's venerable Cypress Gardens appeared to be on the verge of getting plowed under and converted into condos. The white knights at Georgia's Wild Adventures theme park, however, saved the day. Now known as Cypress Gardens Adventure Park, the new owners have added roller coasters, thrill rides, and traditional amusement park amenities to supplement the park's lush gardens, water ski shows, and other original, quaint features. After weathering the Sunshine State's severe hurricanes, the renewed park's delayed opening is now scheduled for previews starting this Friday, November 19. The grand opening will be held December 9. In addition to the park's regular attractions, it will be decked out for the holidays through the end of the year with millions of lights, animated displays, special meals, and some special Christmas shows featuring Kenny Rogers and Glen Campbell.
