Universal Hollywood Gives 2005 Away for Free

Friday November 12, 2004
There is no getting around it: With theme park admission prices nudging (and, in some cases, surpassing) $50, it costs a LOT of dough for a family to have a day of fun. Parks sometimes ease the sting and keep their turnstiles clicking by offering special promotions. Lately, some parks have been offering an intriguing pay-for-one-day, get-a-season-pass deal. Joining SeaWorld California and Six Flags Magic Mountain in the season-pass mania is Universal Studios Hollywood. Calling its program Buy A Day, Get 2005 Free, Universal is offering the deal exclusively online. Here's how it works: Purchase a full-price, one-day pass online for $49.75 before February 28, 2005, and you'll be able to visit the park as often as you wish through the end of next year. Your first visit can be on any day of your choosing, but blackout days (generally during July and August) apply for subsequent visits. Truth be told, Universal already had a similar program in place, but charged $10 above the regular admission price to upgrade to a season pass. Now that the park has eliminated the $10 differential, this is quite a deal. It might even make a decent holiday gift for SoCal residents.
