A Pain in the Neck

That's a new-age Frankenstein's Monster hobnobbing with (L to R) actress Josie Maran, director Stephen Sommers, and actress Elena Anaya at the grand opening of the "Van Helsing Fortress Dracula" maze at Universal Studios Hollywood. Themed to the monstrously popular (if critically maligned) "Van Helsing" movie, the walk-through attraction is similar to the haunted mazes freaking guests out at theme park Halloween events. Lurking in the fortress are monster hunter Professor Van Helsing and Princess Anna Valerious, along with Frankie, flying pygmy bats, a pack of rats, and other creepy effects and surprises. The attraction includes costumes, sets, and props from the film. Sommers also directed the Mummy films, which inspired the Revenge of the Mummy coaster/dark ride attractions set to open shortly at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida.
