Maybe Kryptonite is to Blame?

Follow me on:

When Superman: The Escape first opened at Six Flags Magic Mountain, it caused quite a stir. The tallest, fastest coaster on the planet at the time, it was also among the first to use a magnetic launch system. Only one side of the 415-foot two-track coaster was operating for a while. Now, the groundbreaking coaster appears to be grounded altogether. When I visited the park recently, Six Flags posted a sign in front of the closed ride citing weather conditions--although it was a picture-perfect Southern California day. Apparently, Superman has been shuttered for weeks. So, what's up? Will the coaster be going up, up...and away?
