Cedar Point gets a Lake
Monday April 12, 2004
To follow up an earlier blog announcement, financially squeezed Six Flags sealed the deal and unloaded its Worlds of Adventure park near Cleveland, OH to competitor Cedar Fair. The new owners will change the name of the park back to its original moniker, Geauga Lake. A grand (re)opening is set for May 1. You can see the park's new Web site here. The coasters, thrill rides, water park, and nearly everything else will remain intact, with the exception of the wildlife and marine animals. (I know this is getting confusing, but Six Flags purchased the former neighboring SeaWorld and merged it with the amusement park to create Worlds of Adventure.) Six Flags is moving the animals to its other parks. Cedar Fair owns and operates a number of parks, including Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm.
