Six Flags' World to Get Smaller
Wednesday March 10, 2004
Cedar Fair, the parent company of Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm, and other theme parks and amusement parks, announced today that it plans to purchase Six Flags World of Adventure. It will rename the Cleveland-area park, Geauga Lake, before the 2004 season begins in May, according to the Morning Journal of Ohio. Geauga Lake was the park's name for many years before Six Flags purchased it, combined it with the former SeaWorld Ohio across the lake, added a water park, and called the whole shebang, Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. Six Flags has been experiencing some financial hiccups recently, while Cedar Fair has posted relatively healthy financial reports. Six Flags has also announced today its intentions to sell its European parks to a private investment firm.
