Disney's Rose Bowl Float to Tower over Others

The Tournament of Roses Parade, a New Year's tradition, will get a lift this year from Disney when it debuts its 100-foot tall Twilight Zone Tower of Terror float. Instead of the parade's more sedate flower-covered presentations, the mammoth Disney float will include a rickety elevator that will periodically shake and emit sparks. The company is participating in the parade to promote its Tower of Terror attraction that will be opening at Disney's California Adventure in 2004. The float will include hydraulic devices to raise and lower the 100-foot structure. At one point, the parade route will go under a 17.5-foot overpass.
