The Play's the Thing at Busch Gardens Tampa

Saturday October 25, 2003
The $6-million dollar project that will be the featured attraction next year at Busch Gardens Tampa will not be a new roller coaster, a themed ride, or an animal exhibit, but a high-end, Broadway-caliber theatrical production. According to Backstage.com, the 37-minute musical, to be called "Katonga," will include singing, dancing, and acrobatics. Taking its title from a mythical African landscape, the show will also feature giant animal puppets to be produced by the same designer celebrated for his work on Broadway's successful "Lion King." Busch Gardens will be building a new state-of-the-art theater for the production, which is slated to open next spring.
