Membership no Longer Has its Privileges

Friday October 3, 2003
Seniors can save some bucks when they shop at K-Mart and scoop some cheap tickets at the local movie theater. But, they'll have to pay full price at Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm, and other theme parks now that parent company Cedar Fair has eliminated its senior discounts. A company official says that today's seniors are more active and don't need incentives to visit amusement parks. I've never understood the rationale for automatically granting fogies (Easy Grandma! I'm closing in on AARP eligibility myself.) discounts based solely on age. Other theme park chains, such as Six Flags, say that have no plans to drop their senior pricing. Cedar Fair parks also include Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun, Michigan's Adventure, and Camp Snoopy.
