World's Largest Indoor Water Park on Tap for Illinois
Thursday August 21, 2003
The indoor water park craze shows no signs of letting up. What will purportedly be the largest of the year-round splash palaces is taking shape in Harvard, Illinois at a former Motorola plant. According to the Rockford (IL) Register Star, the water park will occupy a 355,000-square-foot facility which would be more than double the size of the Wisconsin Dells' Wilderness Resort, the current indoor water park size record-holder. The project has a reported $10 million budget, which is quite large for water parks. NGBS, the folks behind Texas' popular Schlitterbahn parks and one of the industry's leading manufacturers, will be building the rides and slides.
