Hershey to Launch New Coaster Next Season

Thursday August 7, 2003
Life will be sweeter for coaster fans in 2004 when Hersheypark debuts its tenth coaster. Not for the faint of heart, the scream machine will use hydraulics to accelerate out of the gate from 0 to over 70 mph in about 2 seconds, navigate a 150-foot spike, and drop 180 feet straight down. Unlike Hypersonic XLC at Paramount's King's Dominion or other similar launch coasters, Hershey says that its coaster will include some inversions and other elements after the drop. Hershey is inviting folks to vote for one of three names for the new ride on its Web site. It also offers a video rendering of the coaster.
